To create a cracking effect:

  1. Roll out your fondant to a higher thickness (which can later be further rolled to your desired thickness to cover your cake); this will depend on the size of the cake you are attempting covering.
  2. Lightly brush the surface of your fondant with edible glue. This helps the metallic fabric adhere to the fondant.
  3. Cut the fabric to the size of the fondant rolled and stick it on to the fondant gently and remove the clear plastic & allow 1 – 2 minutes for the fabric to bond with the fondant.
  4. Once the fabric is stuck you can begin to roll and that will create the cracking effect on the fondant. The cracking effect-outcome will depend on the direction you roll and the amount of pressure you apply.

To cover the cake:

  • Cover the cake with fondant, applying a very thin layer of edible glue.
  • Cut the size of the fabric required to cover the cake and simply stick-it on and rub very gently for it to adhere to the fondant.
